what's in the fridge?

nutcracker · 16/02/2005 16:17

I hate tea time too, am doing pasta and garlic bread i think, quick and easy and usually gets eaten for a change.

SPARKLER1 · 16/02/2005 16:33

Thanks. It's pasta for kids too then. What do you normally have with yours. My kids are a bit fussy when it comes to pasta sauces and usually just have grated cheese.

SPARKLER1 · 16/02/2005 16:36

titania - you're not a bad mummy. I am hovering over the idea of going to the chippy!!! yum yum and I'm on a diet

I usually get a pasta bake sauce and do it with that.

They adore the garlic bread.

northerner · 16/02/2005 16:43

A quick fave of mine is noodles, a dash of a tomato based pasta sauce, and I chuck in any veg I've got and some tiger prawns. Goes down very well in our house.

Kelly1978 · 16/02/2005 16:48

My kids love a tin of meatballs with their pasta, makes a change from sauce and cheese.

dramaqueen72 · 16/02/2005 16:52

dd2 will prefer cheesy sauce with pasta, the bigger ones and us adults like either scala or good ol' lloyd grossman tomato based sauces. handful of veggies in it too, nice baked in oven -or finished in oven with breadcrumbs and cheese on the top - which goes all crunchy...mmmmmmmmmm
we're having stir fry i think after BAD lunch at chip shop!

collision · 16/02/2005 17:07

DS had pasta with pesto, sausages, red pepper and fried mushrooms! Strange concoction but he loved it. Yoghurt for pudding

milliways · 16/02/2005 17:15

We're having roast chicken & taking leftovers to beach for picnic tomorrow.

MarsLady · 16/02/2005 17:17

Roast chicken, good idea, then the DTs can have fruity, creamy chicken for lunch tomorrow. Must cook.

SPARKLER1 · 16/02/2005 17:20

milliways - to the beach? brrrrrrrrrrrrr! freezing!

lunavix · 16/02/2005 17:21

popcorn...

we have no food. oh why doesn't mcdonalds deliver in our area yet!!!

SPARKLER1 · 16/02/2005 17:21

Right have decided - dds are having pasta, fish fingers and a boiled egg on the side - they love those! Bit of a mix and match but as long as they eat something I don't care. Dh is working late tonight so might be naughty and get him to pick something up for us on his way home.

Ours is cooking as I type - really fancied mashed potato tonight (have been obsessing about it since lunch time ), so me and the kids are having sausages, mash, and peas (plus corn on the cobs for me and DD1).

DH is working late tonight, so he grabbed something at lunchtime, and will have a toasted sandwich when he gets in.

collision · 16/02/2005 17:28

DH and I are having tuna and borlotti beans with rice which is our favourite. Might go and start cooking it now. Yummy

milliways · 16/02/2005 17:28

Beach is great like this - can take the dog, walk for miles, feed the seagulls & end up at Harry Ramsdens - tomorrows tea sorted

Tommy · 16/02/2005 17:30

Mine are currently sat in front of the telly with a sandwich - I get the bad Mummy award!

SPARKLER1 · 16/02/2005 17:38

I do that sometimes too Tommy. I'm just happy that they are eating something at tea time. I can stand by the cooker for half and hour to an hour cooking them something special and they waste the lot or I can make them a cold tea (sandwiches etc) and they clear the plate.

I used to love picnics in front of the TV...sandwiches, cucumber and carrots, crisps, biscuits and cake.....hardly any effort at all. Tea is sorted for ds tomorrow!!

SPARKLER1 · 16/02/2005 17:46
