Can you freeze (home-made) buns?

and will they be nice to eat when defrosted?

Have made far too many for dds party.

I wondered if I could freeze them for next term's packed lunches. This would make me feel smugly organised for September and save me scrabbling in the tin for stale biscuits - at least for the first couple of weeks.

If they can be frozen, would icing be OK or better to store undecorated?

Fine but the papaer cases seem to unpeel themselves a bit.

Oh, and icing doesn't freeze well, it goes runny unless it is butter icing/cream.
