Reusing vanilla pods

On the tube it says to wash and dry it after use and it can be used 3 or 4 times. Have done so (just rinsed in water)and stuck it in the airing cuopboard to dry out. Is this the right way to do it?

Does no-one have the answer? My airing cupboard is near my kitchen and the smell of vanilla was fantastic this morning. Don't bother with expensive candles just make a rice pudding and dry out the pod!

I don't think it matters where you dry it, Yoyo. I've used them for flavouring sugar and just air-dried it for a while.

Suedonim - thanks. It does seem to be drying out and I wondered about popping it into a jar of sugar. Might just do that later.
