'La Creuset' range of cookwear are they 'worth the money'....?

Have fancied buying some for ages, but they are obviously quite expensive! Are they 'worth' the money, ie do they cook really well and do they last?

Also as i will not be able to buy the whole range at once, am I taking a risk buying the nice orange coloured ones or do they change their colour ranges quite quickly?

Thanks

My mum & dad got married in 1973 - they have a 3-set of brown (so very 70s) saucepans + a casserole with lid which are still very much alive and kicking. My granite grey lidded casserole is just a baby at 8 years old, but I bought it knowing I would never need to replace it. They cost a lot,but consider them an investment - you won't need to replace your pans etc every decade or sooner, so they are IMO worth the initial outlay. Especially if you can buy them in the sale.

Nope, not worth it. They cost a fortune, weigh a ton, crack if dropped, and the enamel chips off the inside, ruining the pan if you use them for anything hotter than 100 degrees.

I much prefer my £70 the set John Lewis ones.

Yes, I have had my casserole dish for 20 years' and I think my mum still uses hers from the 70's.

I liked the way you could brown the meat first and then pop it in the oven. other similar products didn't used to exist.

mum bought me another make big casserole thing from France but that is too heavy and I have used it once.

willweever if you're thinking of investing in Le Creuset stuff and don't have a large budget. Then go to france for yr. holyers take a car and visit an Emmaeus place (these sell incredibly cheap whole sets and singles of 2nd hand le Crs. and lots of other stuff of course) We've bought an amazing selection for roughly 5 euros each!!
