So how often and what do you feed your dcs????!!!

and i don't want any answers like "i feed them dirt once a day if they're lucky."

seriously, i see so many threads saying things like "my dc's are always hungry, what can i feed them?" or, "today my dc has eaten a b c d e f g...and it is costing me ££"

i'll go first - i have 3 dcs/sdcs and they eat:

breakfast - cereal OR toast OR croissants etc

snack of either couple of biscuits or fruit round 10.30 IF THEY ASK FOR A SNACK.

lunch - something like soup/sandwiches/scrambled egg etc with a piece of fruit or cake/biscuits if i've made any to follow.

snack as before mid afternoon, again IF THEY ASK.

tea - main meal, meat and veg, pasta etc etc, pudding as lunch.

piece of fruit if still hungry.

my dcs are 9, 6 & 2.

so, am a i meany?? am i starving my growing kiddlies??!!

My ds is 6.

B'fast - cereal/toast/croissant/brioche

Lunch - sandwich then yoghurt and cereal bar

Dinner - normally pasta/rice etc or sometimes eggs/jacket spuds

Snaks - free access to fruit bowl. He loves nectarines/plums/cherries/bananas and also helps himself to yoghurt drinks and juice.

At suppertime if really hungry he will have 2 weetabix or milk and a few cookies.

ah good point with the free range snacking northerner - perhaps what i meant is how much/often do you LET your dcs eat??

and no, this isn't a judgey judgey pants thread either, i am genuinely curious

breakfast
Porridge

Lunch fish pie /tuna/salmon steak new pots/chicken and veg/rice salad

Dinner Omlette/ pasta/beans/fish fingers/risotto

puds/snacks fruit/yoghurts and honey/nairns oat biscuits

same as you but they always ask for snacks in between 7 and 10

I seem to be fighting a constant battle with my DCs to stop them eating everything in the house. They always seem to be hungry. Fruit they can have at will. Cheese and yoghurt too. Anything else is rationed but it is a never-ending demand! And DS#2 eats vast quantities. I am beginning to wonder if I need to stop eating so that I can afford to feed them all

Morty likes meat, it doesn't even necessarily have to be cooked! But if you take a peek at my profile, I'm sure you'll agree that she looks healthy and beautiful for it!

sorry am a bit confused Op. What it it that you want to know.
I was on a thread the other day , where I listed how much ds had eaten, becasue I was astonished by how much. He is obviously going through a hunger spurt. Is this not what you want to know ?

feed them you say? they need food? i wondered why dd1 was always in the fridge

brekkie is cereal or porridge with fruit and yoghurt after
lunch is sarnies or pasta, but on wednesdays we go to the sarnie shop and dd1 likes to have burgers from the butchers sometimes with sliced pepper side salad
snack is cheese and fruit
dinner whatever me and dh are having usually cooked dinner, fajitas or more pasta
supper is porridge or jaffa cakes

but dd1 has free reign of the fridge and kitchen cuboards and can help herself to yoghurts and snacks through the day, she always shares with dd2, bless!

My daily meal plan sounds is exactly the same as yours OP.

oh how many snacks they are allowed? as much fruit, yoghurt and cheese as they like so long as we have some, if they eat it all i wont immediately rush out and buy more.

crisps and sweets and biccies are limited to once a day. apart from wednesdays they have cakes from the sarnie shop and sweets from the shops on the way home.

oblomov - i'm curious as to what you feed your dcs and when/how much as in my house we have:

ds1 - will happily eat all day long, mostly unhealthy things (if he was allowed ), but even if he was allowed unlimited healthy snacks, he would eat for the sake of eating, IYSWIM

consequently he would be a fat little bloater if he was allowed to become one. he does not just eat because he is humgry, but because he can.

dd1 - is fairly good at self regulating her food intake.

dd2 - is a fruitbat
left to her own devices that is all she would eat.

am curious as to how it works elsewhere is all

6y DD eats pretty much three meals a day, but sometimes has a mid afternoon snack as well, especially if been to school. There is always fruit in the bowl - can have when she wants so long as not just before a meal is to be served. She can help herself to juice and water too.

Typical day:

7am Breakfast - crumpets, egg, cereal, toast, etc with a smoothie or juice

Lunch - school dinners most of time (hot two course meal); if at home/with me - tends to be sandwiches, small pasta dish or beans/eggs of toast type thing. She is liking a lot of wraps at the moment, with humous and salad sticks. Dessert will be fruit or yogurt type thing.

Snack - around 4pm, normally after school. Small sandwich, humous and dips, fruit, snack bar, cheese and crackers, biscuits, etc.

Dinner - at 6:30pm with me and DH. Will be a main meal - could be anything really: ,eat and veg, chilli, curry, fajitas, pasta, stew, fish, etc. DD will often have a small chocolate bar after her meal.

At the moment she is eating a lot of summer fruits, like strawberries and clueberries. Costs me a fortune though!

Or until you notice that they are becoming a tiny bit overweight. If there is no weight issue, there is no problem. Apart from the fact that they might eat you out of house and home and you may have to become a hooker to fund their eating habit

my dd1 is the same as your dd2 but she likes veg too the strange little child

both dds have a healthy diet, dd1 does not over and dd2 is not old enough to get to the fridge herself so she relys on dd1 bringing her things.

i go shopping for snack things (raisins, fruit, cheese, yoghurts, fruit sqash drink things etc) about once a week they usually run out after three days but i top up the cheese and yoghurt and bananas from local shops

I agree eat if they are hungry as long as it's healthy and as long as they eat at each meal too.

ah see that is the thing - if you let them snack whenever do they still eat regular meals?

Yes ds can eat as much as he wants. But if he, then say doesn't eat much dinner, ( now this has happened all of once in a .....), I would not be impressed.

see this is the thing - if i let the girls snack whenever they want, they don't eat meals...

if i let ds snack at will he DOES eat meals...but gets fat...

ah well...i will just have to stick to having food rules...ho hum...

In which case, in my opinion, you have a minor minor problem/issue.... although not serious, with both the girls and your son.
All easily solveable though.

oh god yes, i know it's minor!!
