fruit cake bakers - how long can I keep one that I fogot to dose with brandy?

Discovered a fruit cake which I made just over a year ago. I did dose it for the first few months but haven't for quite a while.

Will it still be edible? Should I start with the brandy again or is it not worth it?

TIA

How has it been kept? If wrapped well and stored in a cool place with no great fluctuations in temperature and out of direct sunlight, it should still be edible. Give it a good sniff and take a bit out of the centre and taste it (you can always fill the hole with marzipan). If it smells and tastes all right then it's probably ok.

how has it not been eaten already????/ in my house that would have been discovered by dp's cake radar and scoffed. possibly without my knowledge

lol thisisyesterday - don't think DH has noticed what it is!

Thanks mablemurple - it is wrapped in paper, foil and in an air tight box. I will have a sniff and a look. Not sure it will wait til Christmas though? (was meant to be for last Christmas!)
