Slow Cooker question?

MIL just given me an Electric slow cooker.

Cooked a chicken last night and made lovely stock from the bones and also put a breast aside to make soup today.

Can I chuck the already cooked chicken, stock and some veg etc into the slow cooker in order to make soup. Would usually just do it for half an hour in a big saucepan but gagging to use my new slow cooker. Thanks.

I think you can but would need to bring it all to the boil on the hob first?

I could be wrong, hopefully someone with more know-how will be along shortly!

Yes no probs, but I would say with cooked chicken, unless you're going to leave it for several hours (to attain/retain heat) it would be best to do as ppc suggests, in which case, you might as well finish it on the hob. sorry!
