the breadcrumb coating just falls apart....WTF!?!

I know, its annoying isn't it? They're all fish and no finger.

oil/oven not hot enough maybe?

Its when you try and turn them under the grill they fall apart. They never used to fall apart when I was a kid.

do them in the oven and give them a shake every now and again so they don't stick to the tray.

Non-stick pan, a little oil and don't poke/push them about in the pan would be my suggestion. Haven't cooked fishfingers in ages - tomorrow's tea methinks [mile]

It is so you have to eat all the crumbs.

I have eaten my own bodyweight in fishfinger bits

you need to let them get crispy before you turn them,
or turn them just before they get bubbly and the coating is liable to stick
I always fuck em up.
ds's friend said I was rubbish at doing fish fingers and they were much better when done in an aga

Thanks for all the advice....will take it on board for next time but I DO try and shake them so they don't stick and they're usually done in the oven not grill....does this make a difference?!

Glad it's not just me tho...I'm not a great cook but was beginning to wonder if I was completely incompetent
