Out of date CHICKEN

I bought some frozen chicken MONTHS ago...Just found it at the bottom of the freezer and the use by date was the end of last month (thats the actual frozen use by date too).

My mum reckons it will still be ok to defrost and eat as its frozen. Will it?

MrsSnape whats goingon with you and food today?

MrsSnape · 23/07/2008 12:29

I know I'm terrible, I'm trying to stop wasting so much so have been digging around in the depths of the cupboards and freezer...no doubt I'll be asking about 5 year old pasta in a few minutes

If it was me, I would do it, but not give it to my dd andjust make sure you cook it through properly.

defrost it and see how it smells, ime, it will probs ber 'freezer-burnt' which puts me right off!

It won't hurt you if it's been in the freezer. Frozen food doesn't go 'off' it jsut loses flavour and goes rather unpleasent. It's not too far over neither, so will probably be fine.
