How do I make blackcurrant and/or raspberry jams?

We are going fruit picking tomorrow and I'd like to make my own raspberry and blackcurrant jams - is it very hard? Do i need any special equipment, other than a very large saucepan?

You need a HUGE saucepan, a wooden spoon and a saucer.

Then you need sterile jars/pots to put it in.

Very easy otherwise. Although a bit scary when its boiling

I have a collection of washed jam jars and a huge Le Creuset pan. I will give it a go.

Am I right in thinking I can sterilise the jam jars by putting them through the dishwasher and then in a low oven for a while just before I fill them?

Yes - absolutely

it's not hard and yes, you can sterilise the jars that way!

Good luck and have fun!
