Is there a quick way to cook pulses? (without soaking overnight)

Quick question: how can I cook pulses quickly without soaking (tesco 'soup & broth mix' - pearl barley, yellow/green split peas, marrowfat peas, red lentils).

I need to add them to a bolognese on the stove for tonight (normally I simmer lentils for half hour or so and add them to bolog no problem) but the back of the packet says I have to soak overnight, groan (just had them delivered).

Thanking you kindly!

Boil them for ten minutes and turn off the heat. Leave them to soak in the hot water for a couple of hours. Drain and use as usual

Thanks - I will get them on the hob now then let them soak for as long as possible
