Desert to follow chilli?

geordieminx · 13/07/2008 21:35

Having friends round for dinner next week, doing steak chilli and such like.

Not really a pudding person, although am a reasonable cook - usually just buy something.

I'd like to make a wee bit of effort and make a nice pudding - something I could do in advance would be great.

Any ideas?

This may be a little too heavy, but a small portion is delicious with a scoop of ice cream.

Nigella's caramel croissant pudding, it's so easy and so good, yet looks very impressive.

I made it for the first time on Saturday

Cheesecake. Yum yum.

A fruit salad with green and blacks vanilla ice cream.

If your chilli is American Diner Stylee, you could follow with a 'diner style' dessert. Like Key Lime Pie (bit like lemon meringue pie), or New York Cheesecake (baked), or ice-cream sundae with hot chocolate sauce?

lemon syllabub

something sorbet - and / or citrus. Delish.

Was thinking about cheesecake - looked in Nigella book and they all seem to involve water baths and other craaazeeeeeeeeeeee things that I really dont want to be piss-arsing about with because it will go wrong and I will cry.

Oooh fruit salad - I can do that I make a nice fruit salad... not a banana or apple in sight!

Here?

Ice cream sundaes with choc fudge sauce (melt dark chocolate, condensed milk & bit of butter together & pour over ice cream, top with chopped peanuts & wafers & mini marshmallows)

Fruit ice. Go to local ethnic shop and get frozen mango pulp. Put it in blender with water and lime juice (the real stuff). Freeze and then blend again just before serving.

Nice and light and refreshing just after heavy chili.

gigglewitch · 13/07/2008 22:20

this is making me sooooooooooo hungry

geordieminx · 14/07/2008 08:12

Think I might forget about the chilli and just have deserts
