Sorry yes I know another bbq thread, but hey it's the weather for it right?

I am going to take dessert but need something else as well I think.

Rice or pasta salad?

Large crate of beers?

S1ur · 11/07/2008 19:27

I thought alcohol went without saying

pasta salad good plan.
Don't want to bring burgers etc, think there'll be enough of that sort of thing.

Garlic bread, dips, potato salad (homemade)

TillyScoutsmum · 11/07/2008 19:30

Potato salad is good (I usually do it with bits of bacon, new pots and fresh chives). Homemade coleslaw also good

lenny101 · 11/07/2008 19:30

Tomato salad - big beef tomatoes, thinly sliced red onion and basil. Egg salad - hard boiled eggs, bit of mayo/soured cream and chopped tomatoes. Homemade coleslaw. Really quite hungry now.

PestoMonster · 11/07/2008 19:31

I hope the weather stays good for you Slur.

Goober · 11/07/2008 19:33

Big bowl of mixed salad,
Homemade coleslaw,
Corn on the cob,
Ready cooked baked potatoes wrapped in foil to put in the coals when you get there,
Tray of carrot sticks, celery, peppers, breadsticks for dipping.

lenny101 · 11/07/2008 19:36

Ooh ok, where is the bbq, am coming ready or not!

S1ur · 11/07/2008 19:36

potato salad we both love a lot. And tis easy.

But yes I really love tom salad too.

Its a bit confusing actually. Host has invited to bbq but then casually said to bring food. DP thinks host isn't really providing anything. I assumed host would be armed with meat and little else.

DP thinks we should take alcohol, salad/or whatever and meat for ourselves.

I'm not sure of etiquette here. I thought puidding, alcholo and food contribution like salad or whaterve. but not burgers.

argh

What do you think?

bbq ooop north. likely to piss it down ah well.

I like idea of baked potatoes, bridges the gap between main and accompainment

Can you give them a call and check ? Got visions of you all sitting round drinking beer and eating potato salad with a bbq with nothing on it

missblythe · 11/07/2008 19:39

couscous with roasted veg.

And a packet of sausages in case there's no meat for you!

Could you ring them and check? Say 'I'm making my fab pasta salad and a batch of brownies, but is there anything else that I bring?'

You shoudl be able to get an idea of what they are providing then.

lenny101 · 11/07/2008 19:41

Calls for hiding sausages up your sleeves just in case Slur. Really hope the sun shines and it's not grim up there.

S1ur · 11/07/2008 19:42

unfortunately can't call Tilly.

Bloke from dps work is leaving and throwing himself a leaving do bbq, has been very cagey and unhelpful casual and evasive laissez fair about whole thing.

Only mention food yesterday in a off the cuff remark when dp asked (for 3rd time)like, oh yeah bring something

okay, so will bring meat then you think? No harm I guess just feels a bit presumptious arriving with entire meal.

OP posts:
S1ur · 11/07/2008 19:44

single bloke hmm does that make a difference? wonder if that would make it more or less likely to be partially catered.

"oh yeah, bring something" sounds like he's got the basics covered and is thinking extra stuff

I think ....

Take a few sausages, just in case
