I have always had electric steamers. I use it most days so its an essential for me.

Mine has gone kaput so looking for a new one.
Needs at least 3 tiers.

Am planning on getting another elctric one because thats what I'm used to and for speed but am prepared to be convinced if pan steamers really are all that.

Any recommendations?

We got the all metal one as the tray things on our old one cracked in the dishwasher. It is crap. Uses loads of electricity and spits water everywhere and takes ages to heat up and doesn't have a timer. What a waste of money.

bought another tefal one just like our old one to replace it.

Yes, my plastic one was Tefal too. Seems like a good make.
I think it might be a good idea to stick to that brand then!

Buy a bamboo one from a Chinese shop for peanuts. Looks nice too.

I've had 2 tefal ones, and loved the way they cook, but the plastic trays fall apart too easily (the clips keep breaking off the tray bases, so they don't hold together any more). This time I've got a John Lewis one. I like it in many ways (lots of room, still compacts down nearly as much as the tefal) but it does seem to take longer to cook the same food.
