Can I freeze mashed potato?

I know it seems a thick question, but I've only frozen potato in shepherd's pie etc. I have some spuds that needed using, so they're mashed (with butter) and I want to put them into little freezer bags and defrost them as and when for ds1 & 2.

You can even buy frozen mash!!! Didn't you see the mash thread? It's amazing how long a mash convo can last
