So tragedy may be a bit OTT but have just defrosted some lovely lamp chump steaks in the microwave .. but I overdid it ... eek

they are now partially cooked and partially raw and have been lying in the microwave for 30 minutes (DD got in the way and I forgot )

Don't want to cook them properly till 8ish

so do I have to chuck them? do I put them in the fridge in this horrendous half-brown / half-red state? .. arrrgghhhhh

have to confess that I would continue on and cook them. But my conscience wouldn't let me serve them up to kids. I reckon we adults have stronger constitutions. I'm sure no other self respecting mnetter would though

cook them through, chill and then reheat. don't leave them half and half!

charlie01 · 31/01/2005 19:21

I'd cook them!

Tinker · 31/01/2005 19:22

Um, I'd eat them. Erm, why couldn't you? Am I missing something serious about meat?

motherinferior · 31/01/2005 19:28

Oatcake's suggestion is truly brilliant. I shall remember it for the future.

Twiglett · 31/01/2005 19:30

arrghhhh ... too late, DH came home whilst I was faffing .. smelt them (killer nose my DH) and chucked 'em

looks like beans on toast again

huh? what tip? only said cook it through...

I'm a vegetarian. you don't want to listen to me!

Chicken, Fish or pork and I'd say throw it away
Lamb or beef - cook all the way through to a reasonably high temp and you should be fine (not mince tho')

Snugs · 31/01/2005 20:54

Agree with KatieMac - although with mince you could have removed the cooked bits and carried on with the rest.
