Please help me in my detective work ... was given a bottle of sparkling white wine, rather nice, probably a more expensive one, from a friend. Said bottle of wine now disappeared. Wide eyed innocent denial from ds1 and ds2. However! Have found a cork with writing on in the kitchen drawer - could this be from the same bottle - is it only more expensive wines that have writing on the cork, or would any old bottle have it?

How old are dss? If they are under 15 it's unlikely to have been them

Hassled · 29/06/2008 11:17

We need more clues - how old are the DSs? Getting the cork out of a bottle of fizz is an acquired skill.

mrsmike · 29/06/2008 11:19

Cork says "messo in bottiglia nelle nostre cantine" (put in the bottle in our kitchen???!)
Yes, you are right, I just thought the cork should be a different shape too. I am just so sure they have sneaked off with it! Thought I had found crucial evidence but maybe not!

I remember when DS2 was about 3. DH asked him if he would like a drink and DS2 said oh, I have had one of mummies drinks.

DH asked him to show him from where. There was an open bottle of wine in the fridge and he had poured some into his cup and drank it

mrsmike · 29/06/2008 11:20

They are 14 and 16. I know the friends of even the 14 yr old have drink sometimes. I am v disappointed with it all.

Thing is, I'm not sure if it was bottle of fizz proper, or something like sparkly pinot grigio, which might have been normal bottle top with a cork. i didn't take too much notice of the bottle when friends presented it, just thought yum will save for later, and now its GONE

Am a bit lost over what shaped cork it was - just a normal one, is that right?

Only you can assess whether you think your dss have snaffled it. Are there any other suspects?

The cork I have found is normal shaped but with writing on and looks a bit posh. Can you get sparkly wine (not champagne or cava or anyhting, say sparkly pinot grigio) that has a normal shape cork? Otherwise my theory is pants. But still have missing bottle and no possible other suspects.

Not poss I'm afraid. It was prom night for school leavers on friday. Lots of 16 yr olds congregating/camping in woods after. When I said to Ds1 did you take the wine, he said No but I did take some whisky could be double bluff of being open & honest to cover up further misdemeanours! You can see why I am feeling suspicious ...

Yes and the thing is they can be so sweet and seemingly innocent and all the time doing dreadful things behind the scenes, only some of which I find out about, I'm sure
