Starting meat/fish

Please could anyone suggest some simple recipes containing meat/fish that I could puree for my 6-month-old? She's got quite a sweet tooth and is showing a definite preference for fruit, but need to start getting some protein into her!

To start with, buy some organic chicken fillets and organic fish fillets - tell the fishmonger it is for a baby.

Cut them into small pieces - about the size of a couple of chocolate squares and wrap each one in clingfilm and then bag the fish and chicken seperately. Freeze.

Cook or steam with veg of choice and add rice/potato then puree.

Unless of course you are doing blw, in which case I am no expert and you need ot talk to Aitch.

Oh, and check fish very carefully for bones - even if fishmonger says is boneless.

fry an onion. add a little chopped white fish, veg stock, sweetcorn +/or peas. plus potato if you want to bulk it out.

simmer for 15 mins.
puree.

poach some fish (haddock or cod) in milk with a bay leaf and a couple of peppercorns

when it is cooked flake it and let your LO pick the pieces up with her fingers

serve with boiled potatoes cut up into quarters

do the same with chicken breast (poach in water)

I tend to start with fish and move onto chicken. And pulses are a good source of protein too.

If you can do a simply cheese sauce, fish pie is always a winner and freezes well. You could use Sweet Potato for the mash.

Theres an annobal karmel recipe with Sweet Potato, cod and orange juice. Sounds gross I know, but my DC loved it.
