Don't really want to slice them, any other ideas - would like them to be good finger food for DS2 (14 mths)

TIA

Cut off ends and steam until you can pass a sharp knife through ?

For my 11-month old, I cut them in quarters lengthwise, put them in a small container, add some liquid (water or sometimes lemon juice or vinegar) and a pinch of dill, put the top on, shake the thing about, loosen the top, and microwave it for 2 minutes or so (I only do a serving's worth at a time). My microwave is not very strong -- you might want to do a minute for one serving in a big one. The point is just to make them a little bit soft, while still leaving them firm enough to pick up.

I cut them in half and chargrill them with a tiny bit of olive oil.
They are lovely and it really brings out the sweetness and flavour this way.
