Is it feasible to rely solely on an air fryer and not have an oven?

We have a large everhot which is great but with the weather we have been having I don't want to add extra heat into the kitchen. Typically we turn it off between June and September and we have a small fan oven which we use instead. The fan oven is inside a cabinet (we obviously keep the doors open if we are actually using it but close the doors when we are not using it). It was a solution to the heat issue rather than something we designed as part of the kitchen when the kitchen was installed.

The fan oven was a cheap one from B&Q and its now died after 2 years. They still make them but Im a bit reluctant to buy another identical one since it was so short lived. Unfortunately it is a reduced depth oven and Im really struggling to find any other that will fit into the cabinet and allow the doors to close.

I can't just take the doors off the cabinet. Its a floor to ceiling cabinet and the kitchen was expensive.

Has anyone managed without an oven by using one of the large air fryers? We have a very small air fryer that we use occasionally if it's just me and DH at home. We now have an adult child back from uni for a couple of years (and another home during uni holidays) so I'd need to buy a big one like the ninja flexi or the large breville one.

Is it really feasible to have only the air fryer (bearing in mind we don't do that many full roasts during the summer months anyway and come mid september I'll switch on the everhot again).

I never use my big oven now, it houses all my frying pans and casserole dishes. We use the little oven/grill maybe a couple of times a week. Air fryer for most things. We recently bought a pizza oven from Lidl, it was about £70 I think, we love pizza, and the small oven doesn't get hot enough. The Lidl one is brilliant both for homemade and shop ones, it gets to 400C! Need a bit of room to stores it though.

We use the gas BBQ a lot in summer too when we have people round (or just the two of us - though more rarely now we have the airfryer) - I'm more likely to put a couple of bits of salmon in the airfyer than do it on the bbq.

But I've used the BBQ for a butterfly leg of lamb or doing burgers or fish before now in the summer.

A big airfryer is likely to do you over the summer.

I had a new oven put in two years ago, Ive used it twice, for pizza, everything else goes in the airfryer, including Sunday roast. There is only two of us though, if there were more people we might struggle.

We have a Ninja 15 in 1 Air Fryer/steamer/roaster etc. plus an oven style air fryer along with the microwave of course.

We also have a large double oven Range master which - apart from the hob - has increasingly become a plate warmer. 😁

Between the BBQ for the grill, rice cooker for rice and steaming and the airfyer, I hardly use the oven this time of year. Pizzas won't fit in my airfyer (unless I chop it up and cook half at a time) so DS occasionally turns on the oven

How about just keeping one oven on the Everhot? We just keep one oven on on ours (90i) at somewhere between 120 and 180 and turn it up / boost with the grill if needed for pizzas etc and us the induction hob. We have a microwave but it's in the garage (it got put out there during kitchen renovations and never came back) and very rarely used. No airfryer, never even considered it due to lack of counterspace. We are also a household of two parents, one young adult DC at home full time and one home from uni over the summer. so often cooking separately.

Two person household and I have a plug in hob, an airfryer, a slow cooker and a microwave. I don't have an oven - moved from a house with a fitted kitchen to one with no appliances and thought I'd see how long I could get by without. 2.5 years so far. I'm looking to upgrade to a bigger airfryer (mine is small) but the only downside is that I can't cook a whole pizza! The airfryer does pizza sections beautifully though.

You can’t put the air fryer in the cupboard though, even with the door open. They shouldn’t even sit under shelves. Major source of Fire Brigade call outs.

Haven’t used my range oven for over two years now! There were two of us at home, only one now. I also have an Instant Pot to cook the dogs dinner, but I can and have used the AF for that too.

My DM hasn't used her oven since she moved into her house almost 10yrs ago so it's definitely feasible! She has a microwave as well as the airfryer

We have a Tefal air fryer oven. Between that, the hob and the microwave, we cook most of our meals. We only really use the big oven when we have guests or the whole family is here. We can cook a whole meal for two in it with no problems - depending on the height of dishes/ trays, we can get up to three shelves in. To be honest, we rarely use the air fryer setting as we find the other settings give great results.

My sister and Bil told me last week they have not used their oven for almost a year. My sister uses the hob sometimes, they have a large Ninja air fryer they use and they eat out a couple of times each week. Their DC are all grown up and left home so it is just sister and BiL.

I think the last time I used my oven was at Xmas. I used an air fryer, rice cooker, microwave, slow cooker and we have a pizza oven. I do use the hob though to cook pasta.

I don't have a built in oven, I have a free standing Ninja combie oven/air fryer/slow cooker and it's brilliant! I wouldn't go back to a standard oven after having this. It is in a cupboard, but it's on a pull out shelf so we just pull it out when we're using it. Then shut the down when we're done (and it's cooled down).

Yes you absolutely can.

Christmas dinner is the only issue I could see, but you can find solutions to that too.

Our oven broke 2.5 years ago and I can’t afford to get it fixed. I am lucky that we had been given a Ninja 9 in one that pressure cooks and air fries plus I already had a dual drawer then my Mum and Dad got us a Megazone for Christmas and I wouldn’t ever bother with a proper oven now. (Do still use hob and don’t have a microwave). I bake cakes/biscuits and pavlova etc plus no do casseroles, traybakes and pasta bakes etc no problem

My cooker died over two years ago! My 'temporary' solution of two air fryers and a plug-in hob works so well, a new cooker's slid right down to the bottom of my list.

I have a smaller, fast air fryer and a larger, slower one. I do have a multifunction microwave as well, which I've needed to use just once so far for a roast that wouldn't fit in the bigger AF.

My best advice is to buy oven dishes that fit in your air fryer, and a couple of those wire trays for layering or grilling.

We use air fryers for 80% if cooking now, and only use ovens for roasts, pizzas, cakes and cooking for lots of people (ninja dual).

Got a Ninja (the large one) when the oven died as it was cheaper than buying a new oven + disconnection + disposal + installation.

Think that was about 5 years ago now.

Already had a rice cooker that is used pretty much daily, the microwave is occasionally used to heat up a veg steambag, but the only reason we went on to buy a second Ninja was because I wanted a pressure cooker that was fully automatic, as my childhood memories of my mother using a Prestige one are coming in from school to see the animals sprinting for cover and through the thick, rolling clouds she emerged, gingerly poking a kitchen knife at the valve from halfway across the kitchen like Errol Flynn in a pink apron.

The only thing that I cook in the oven these days is pizza. I suppose you could get around that by cutting it up and cooking in the air fryer.

My parents rarely use their oven now unless it’s Christmas and they need to cook multiple things at once… they live on the air fryer. They do have microwave & a hob though but the air fryer is their fave because they say it’s cheaper and faster

Cheese on toast is great in the air fryer!

I often cook at my elderly mum's whom I'm looking after and the oven gets used roughly once a year - too long to heat up and it's used as storage. Instead I've got her a brilliant combi microwave, one of the large Sharp models that have space for a couple of trays rather than just a revolving plate. It's in constant use. Recently replaced the old one with basically the identical model of 12-odd years.

I have a combination airfyer and pressure cooker. Never use the oven or hob.
