Urgent help - cake not cooking!

So, it's my own fault, I doubled the mixture as it didn't sound like enough, put some into muffin tins, but overfilled the cake tin a bit. Now the cake has been in for the required amount of time but do to overfilling has spilled over the tin (not a prob, I'm going to ice it) but it doesn't seem to be cooking in the middle, it's a bit wobbly still. Do I leave it for longer at the same temp? Turn the temp up? Is it going to be a disaster?

could you cover with foil loosely, turn oven down fractionally and cook for longer/.

MrsBadger · 20/06/2008 12:56

turn down temp
cover with foil
check every 5-10min

OverMyDeadBody · 20/06/2008 12:56

just leave it in to cook for longer, maybe turning the oven down a tad

It's chocolate so the brown won't matter !

Thanks for the tips. My own stupid fault, but don't want to waste all these ingredients, including half a pot of green and blacks fecking coco powder should've stuck to Tesco Value!

I bow to superior knowledge too. Don't turn it down. Trim off burnt bits.

Ooops, too late to leave it in the tin (takes note for future ref), well it's out, it's in one piece. Seems to taste pretty good (you are right about the brown bits though, will investigate when cool. Thank you for your help at every step of the way.

Stay tuned for this afternoon's icing saga!

Thank you for all your help. The cake looked marvellous, haven't yet uploaded pictures but I will. Thanks for all your help, it wasn't interfering at all!
