How much does the average 16 month old actually eat?

I have a friend in America who is struggling with not getting her little girl to eat very much. She is 16 months old and BF. Seems very healthy in herself and reaching all important milestones but goes through days where she doesnt eat much at all. A few bites of toast, a few spoonfulls of yoghurt, a little bit of sweetcorn etc.

I think this is probably normal but would like to get some more information to reassure my friend. I know my DS who is 22 months sometimes has days where he has a lot of milk and not so much food but he is healthy and also meets milestones. Your thoughts please?

i want to know too!!!! Ds has eaten three teaspoons of yoghurt and 16 pieces of weetos cereal (i KNOW weetos are crap as foods go, but im desperate and will feed him anything!)

All his little friends seem to happily stuff their faces (as do i - so i cant understand this not wanting to eat business)

My 16 month old has good days and bad days. I just have to remind myself to stay calm and have some faith in her. Perhaps it would help your friend if she looked at the food consumed on a weekly rather than daily basis.

Also teething has a big impact on appetite here, as has a recent dose of antibiotics. If she is still BF (as is mine) then she at least still has access to some good nutrition.

ds has just done a 'drool stool' so yes lionstar, i think teeth are today's culprits

Ok Then

WE saw a dietitian for years with DS2.
Best piece of advise...
of the three meals you are trying to give him he only needs the one.

i dont know how much my 15 month old dd eats,i just put her food in front of her and clear up whats left/on the floor afterwards.i just assume she will eat till she is full.

im sure it doesnt matter as long as they are putting on weight and developing normally.
