I know it's good for you and want to incorporate into my diet.

How much do you eat?
When?
What type?

Not every day but most days I have a fruit yogurt after my evening meal.
I quite often make a yoghurt dip to go with grilled meat eg mint and yoghurt with lamb or avocado mashed into yoghurt with salmon.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 27/01/2026 18:48

I have a berry smoothie with almond butter, oats, seeds, apple juice and Greek yoghurt for breakfast - about 5 large tablespoons in the mix, which lasts about 4 days.

Sometimes I just have 4 or 5 tablespoons of yoghurt and fresh berries instead of a smoothie - if I have time. Or sometimes as a dessert after dinner.

I also use yoghurt in cooking curries. But I am not great on using it for tzatziki or similar (very occasionally I will
make a lemon and yoghurt drizzle for lamb koftas…but they are a rare treat).

I buy a bucket (1kg? Bigger than the big tub, which I feel is 500g, but not massive) and that lasts me about 3-4 weeks living alone. I generally finish it rather than it going off.

Have you tried homemade kefir? I make my own and it's very different to shop bought

In what way is it different?

My grains arrived today so will be making it at weekend.

“Greek style” is essentially ‘normal’ yogurt with additives to make it taste/look like Greek Yogurt. It generally doesn’t have the same nutritional benefits; for example, Greek Yogurt is higher in protein and is typically lower in fat/sugar.

And notably more expensive

Is a lot more tart and not as creamy, can be bit lumpy and fizzy too! I'm used to it now but as I said quite different
I usually flavour mine with pureed fruit or some honey

I've been making kefir since the end of January and I love it. Was making it in 500ml jars but got a delivery of 1l ones today so can ramp up consumption. I agree with you that it is very different to shop bought.

re 2% Fage - Where are you buying this please?
My supermarket has FAGE in 5% & 0%. I go for the 5% but I'd been keen to compare it with the 2%

I get it in Waitrose

MoiraPlunkett · 18/02/2026 08:17

At least three or four times a week, I have it after dinner. I vary the types but must be full fat and thick! I buy individual tubs as I know I'd end up having too much if I decanted from a big tub. Fruit or honey as flavours - can't abide caramel, chocolate or similar in a yoghurt.

@Serafee @Wonderknicks can I ask why not Greek style or is it just not to your taste? I have Greek style every day - it's listed as made with milk and has a decent amount of protein in. I buy it as it's not high in fat and is affordable - am I eating yoghurt wrong?!

Pic of packet

It has to be called ‘Greek Style’ as it isn’t made in Greece, Greek Yoghurt is one of those foods that is protected in this way. Eating Greek Style is no different from eating Greek Yogurt so I have no idea why all of these posters seem to think they are in some way ‘better’ not not eating Greek Style. It’s just misinformed people who don’t really understand why it’s called Greek Style.

bloodredfeaturewall · 18/02/2026 08:29

after a workout I have a bowl of plain yoghurt/skyr/quark with oats/chia/raisins

bloodredfeaturewall · 18/02/2026 08:58

we buy the big 1l tubs and a portion is 3 tablespoons

EndorsingPRActice · 18/02/2026 09:03

I have yeo valley full fat yogurt several mornings a week in overnight oats. So mix 3 tbsp bircher muesli with 3 tbsp yogurt, cover with apple juice, mix and leave in fridge overnight. Eat with any topping you like, I have a bag of walnuts on the go at the moment.

BringBackCatsEyes · 18/02/2026 09:09

I have Greek yogurt with blueberries and honey every morning.
Full fat.

My understanding was that not all Greek Style are the same. Greek Yoghurt is strained and won't have anything added. Whereas Greek Style might so you need to check the ingredient for thickeners etc....

Belladog1 · 18/02/2026 10:13

I have one, sometimes two for pudding every day. I buy the low fat Muller yoghurts and love them. Only 56 calories (?) and delicious. Love the cherry ones.

You probably need to read the whole thread 😂

YourWinter · 18/02/2026 13:42

I like natural Greek yogurt, not flavoured, and a 500g pot does me 4-5 portions. I have it sprinkled with cinnamon and pumpkin seeds or almonds, flaxseeds and chia. Or in a smoothie with milk and a banana.

2026Y · 18/02/2026 13:54

Ooooo - this thread has been interesting. We often get Greek Style (but where milk is the only ingredient so not thickeners or additives) but I didn't realise about the protein content, which having checked is lower that other Greek Yogurts.

LardyCakeLover · 18/02/2026 14:01

If you're buying yogurt, try to get one with active live cultures. Best value for money is probably ASDS essentials - I use this as a starter when making a batch of my own yogurt (usually happens when someone in the family has eaten the last jar, not leaving me any to start the next batch with). Every Sunday evening I make a batch using 4 pints of full fat milk.

I also make my own Kefir - every morning strain off yesterdays batch and put the grains in a clean jar, top up with milk. Simple.

I'm a bit of a fermentation addict, usually have batches of sauerkraut and kimchi on the go too.

Jrisix · 18/02/2026 14:51

Loads. Probably too much. I get though a 1kg bucket in two or three days. I have a bowl every evening with nuts, fruit and honey. I drizzle it with olive oil, salt and chilli flakes and dip bread in it. I marinade meat in it. I mix it into my overnight muesli. Sometimes I just dip a spoon in the tub and guzzle some down while I'm cooking dinner. I don't know if it's possible to overdose but I reckon I could get there.

I buy 10% fat Greek style.

ginasevern · 18/02/2026 16:18

I buy a big tub of FAGE full fat natural yoghurt about every 5 days. I dollop it on lettuce, cucumber and onion and then drizzle with olive extra virgin olive oil which is my go to lunch most days. I actually prefer yoghurt on savoury things.

RipplePlease · 18/02/2026 16:43

Every day for breakfast.
Greek style, 5% fat. With strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, flax, chia, mixed seeds, turmeric and goji berries.
Usually add in some nuts and spoonful of honey at the weekend.
I heat up the berries.

I agree you need to check the ingredients but Sainsbury’s Greek Style Yoghurt only has milk as an ingredient. As do lots of other Greek Style yoghurts. Being labelled Greek Style is because it is Greek Yogurt not made in Greece or with Greek Milk. So the posters boasting about not eating Greek Style aren’t necessarily eating a better product, they’re just paying a lot more money for something that they could get with exactly the same ingredient but labeled slightly differently due to food providence protections.
