YOGHURT - how much do you eat?

SliceofTosst · 21/01/2026 12:25

I know it's good for you and want to incorporate into my diet.

How much do you eat?
When?
What type?

Daily. With kefir mixed through and various bits like oats/fkax/chia.

Always FAGE 0% fat. The full fat stuff is too claggy for me.

I also mix it with chicken instead of mayo, and I use it to make tzatziki.

TessSaysYes · 22/01/2026 13:48

3 times a week, Fage Zero, with tasty things mixed in.

bumphousebump · 22/01/2026 13:50

Most days for breakfast either with fruit or in porridge. Also dolloped on things like currys or bean stews. Full fat for the protein...though I'm trying to cut my portion sizes. Also use it instead of sour cream on fajitas or tacos.

AlannaOfTrebond · 22/01/2026 14:19

Used to be daily.

Then I had an ME/CFS relapse and developed histamine intolerance. I miss yoghurt so much...

I just used to do mine with cheesecloth hung over a bowl hanging from one of the kitchen door handles. I dont think specific equipment is necessary

Well, I have tried various methods with cheesecloth and found them all messy and yours certainly wouldn't work here with cats on the prowl but thanks anyway.

soupyspoon · 22/01/2026 16:10

Well it would work very nicely for the cat.

WinoTime · 22/01/2026 16:18

None. I haven’t touched milk products since I was a child - warm school milk put me right off 🤢
i am now vegan so have the option of soy yogurt but it doesn’t have the high protein benefit of a dairy Greek yogurt and I most don’t eat dessert type foods.

@Wonderknicks@Nomedshere

What is the difference between Greek and Greek style?

I mostly only see Greek style in the shops, where can you buy actual Greek.

I buy greek yoghurt from Aldi/Lidl. Have it every morning with granola and mixed seeds.

ThePoshUns · 22/01/2026 16:49

Every day, either proper Greek yogurt or Skyr. A few dessert spoons worth on my overnight oats.

SliceofTosst · 22/01/2026 17:13

@Trotula
I just don't like most of it. I find it sharp.
I do eat bananas and occasionally pears or watermelon but really don't like other fruit, especially berries.

It's not limiting at all. Instead of fruit I eat cherry tomatoes and cucumber (which actually are fruits!).

With the yoghurt I'd have seeds and nuts occasionally.

Thanks for recipes @Allsigns.

I'm never hungry in the morning so I might have it as part of a healthy lunch or a snack in the evening.

I have full fat Greek yoghurt every day for breakfast.

hollyhocks2 · 22/01/2026 18:34

For fun, I asked my 3yo. Her responses are as follows:

how much - 5
when - Before somebody takes it away
what type - white

hope that helps!

Trotula · 22/01/2026 19:48

soupyspoon · 22/01/2026 13:21

I dont eat fruit, in what way would that be limiting?

Actually I do eat prunes, dates, dried apricots

I really like fruit yogurts especially raspberry and cherry and eat the Greek yogurt with bananas or berries so just thought that not eating fruit limits the options but seeds, dates, honey etc are good additions!

Well when I did eat yoghurt I would mix it with veg or salad, honey, seeds and nuts

I largely hate fruit. Cold and sweet.

Very very very occasionally I may have extremely fresh and ripe strawberries with clotted cream but I havent had that for a couple of years.

Fruit does not motivate me to eat at all.

Ive just updated another thread were I was asking about something connected to that 30 plants a week thing. I was experimenting with it as havent done it before wondering what my 'number' would be at the end of the week, its 31.5 and the only fruit in that list is prunes, dried apricots and dried cherries.

Although lots of salad stuffs are fruits, tomato, avocado, olives etc etc. Cucumber as well I think

YouBelongWithMe · 24/01/2026 20:33

Most days in some way. It's pretty staple in our house.

I usually stir a big tablespoon of greek yoghurt through my overnight oat/chia pudding. If I make porridge i stir a spoonful through it.

Tonight I had a three ingredient pizza base using greek yoghurt, flour and olive oil.

Sometimes use it to marinate. Use it to make tzatziki.

“Greek style” is essentially ‘normal’ yogurt with additives to make it taste/look like Greek Yogurt. It generally doesn’t have the same nutritional benefits; for example, Greek Yogurt is higher in protein and is typically lower in fat/sugar.

Greek yogurt is normal yogurt which has been strained. It’s the removal of the whey when straining which ups the protein. Both types of yogurt-plain and Greek -are good for you, as long as they have the live bacteria in them. Flavoured yogurts are more sugary, or fake sugary, so I have natural.

quittingsugar2026 · 26/01/2026 12:15

1 big pot of 950g of Fage 2% a week at least plus some cottage cheese

RobinEllacotStrike · 26/01/2026 13:19

re 2% Fage - Where are you buying this please?
My supermarket has FAGE in 5% & 0%. I go for the 5% but I'd been keen to compare it with the 2%

narcASD · 26/01/2026 13:30

Fage 0% or 5% most days, with honey or protein powder mixed in. Not keen on fruit flavoured ones but do like a full fat hazelnut one occasionally

Ocado.

AgnesX · 26/01/2026 15:15

Daily for breakfast. Whatever natural variety it is that Costco sells in small buckets, with chopped fruit like kiwi and pineapple and a smattering of seed toppings.

savemetoo · 26/01/2026 15:37

I have Yeo Valley Kefir for breakfast with fruit and seeds and then use it like mayo the rest of the day. It really helps with my IBS (intolerant to alliums, not dairy).

RipplePlease · 27/01/2026 09:03

Bought 2 Fage 0% fat individual yogurts yesterday. 1 raspberry and 1 honey, where you pour the little side pot in.
Honey one was delicious and my Yukka app approved 🤣

This stuff is great but I'm waiting for a delivery of kefir grains to make my own. I eat it every day with fruit.

Have you tried homemade kefir? I make my own and it's very different to shop bought
