My grandma had a hole in the wall through to the dining room that had two doors that I thought wa super posh (she had a council house) . No idea if it had a name but there were lots of these in 1970s houses

Potted meat
Sandwich spread and those jars of meat/fish paste for sandwiches.

For those of us whose parents don't live in our childhood homes, you want us to knock on the door & ask to look in their kitchen & you dint think they'd find that just a little but weird.

I have a memory that the pressure cooker was also used for boiling nappies. I hope I am wrong! Whistly kettle. Pantry under the stairs with a bowl of dripping and various home brews. The tea dispenser on the wall already mentioned. Big earthenware sink where we were all bathed as babies. Coal cellar outside the back door but with no coal and huge chest freezer in it instead. And more homebrew. A chip chopper. Gas cooker with eye level grill. No toaster. Toast was the best, with butter on. A serving hatch from the kitchen. Though we used the room the other side as a living room and the hatch was never used. Other reception room further away was the dining room. Mainly used at Xmas. Arcelor coffee mugs and soup mugs with recipes on. The Reader's Digest Cookery Year - I have this now. Bread bin.

Chip Pan
Pressure Cooker
Mincer
Wall Mounted Salt Dispenser
Filter Coffee Maker
Tea Pot with matching Sugar Bowl
Deep Fat Fryer (DM bought one as soon as they came out to replace the chip pan)
Frying pan with oil in it, DM would leave it sitting on the hob and use the same oil repeatedly until it became dirty or started to smell

FizzingAda · 20/12/2025 20:05

gosh, this thread is bringing up memories!
The tea leaf dispenser
wall can opener, animal jelly moulds (my favourite was the rabbit), mincer, dripping jar.
my nan lived downstairs, and she had a wooden mushroom thing that was used for pressing the water out of over boiled cabbage 🤮. I was an adult before I realised cabbage didn't have to be a soggy heap of green blotting paper!

MagnoliaTreeBlossom · 20/12/2025 20:10

A jar of malt extract. I loved getting a daily spoonful as a child. 🥄🍯

ilovepixie · 20/12/2025 20:13

Soda stream

fondue set
fancy cutlery in a wooden case

Countsounds · 20/12/2025 20:16

Birds Apeel powdered orange juice that had a beautiful exaggerated fake orange taste!
A cupboard shelf of pop from the milkman - cream soda, orangeade, cherryade.
The crisps with the blue salt bag on the next shelf down.
Lino on the floor.
A hostess trolley for wheeling out the scones and fairy cakes at parties, on a Sunday, or just because someone called on us.

ilovepixie · 20/12/2025 20:17

Also electric frying pan
hatch in the wall to pass plates through to the dining room.

A coffee percolator. I'd like to say tea trolley, but it is skulking in the garage.
