Healthy snacks (me not DC)?

Can anyone suggest any recipes/ideas for healthy snacks.

I keep reaching for the chocolate/crisps to give me energy as I'm feeling a little tired with early waking baby, still bfing and being back at work. I'm feeling unhealthy and a bit flabby so I want to switch to something better. Problem is that if I just don't buy this stuff (we never used to have them in pre-pg) I just get a bit tired and grumpy. Other things I've tried e.g. dried apricots don't really do it for me. Am sure htat the real answer is to get more sleep but not an option just now!

Thanks for any ideas

i bought some lovely rice cakes in morrisons they are flavoured with yeast extract. filling but much less fattening than crisps.

with healthy snacks, you have to have them all ready to pop in your mouth, no faffing about (so easy to rip open a pack of crisps than to peel a carrot)

so when you've got a bit of time - grate and chop up the carrots, wash the grapes/cherries/blueberries et cetc get the nuts and seeds into a container

dont buy the junk - if it's not in the house you won't eat it

I know you said that dried apricots don't do it for you BUT...... they are HIGH in iron. If you are tired you may be aneamic [sp] too. Maybe worth a quick visit to Dr for a blood test. I was low on iron after DS1.

houmous/ nut butter (can be almond or cashew nut if you are avoiding peanuts) and oatcakes

a banana

dried fruit and nuts

Thanks for the replies, there's some great ideas there. Will try some of them esp the houmous with outcake/rice cracker/veg.

Yes I thought I might be anaemic Rioja (am veggie too) but have been taking multivitamins and iron to no avail...

Thanks again
