i need 7 meals that i can cook that are simple, dont need a million items and that 2 yr old ds will eat. He doesnt have a particulary wide taste as he has been restricted all his life so now want to try help that too

Apologies if any of the below contain allergens,

  • fajitas (veg for you, chicken and veg for menfolk) use guacamole/salsa instead of sour cream
  • curry? would ds try it?
  • spag bol/pasta with tomato sauce
  • butternut squash (or some such)soup with bread
  • jacket potatoes and beans
  • homemade (bean)burgers
  • (chicken with)roasted veg and couscous

Am also not blessed by sprit of inspiration..

You have all my sympathies on food front. Dd is also 2 and will eat pesto pasta. Or chocolate.

Falafels with hummous in pitta breads with salad

Chickpea casserole with broccoli

Pasta with tomato sauce and butter beans and spinach blended in

Dahl made of red split lentils, coconut milk, tinned tomatoes, onions, garlic and curry powder. Serve with rice or chappati

quinoa (a grain that you boil up in 10-15 mins and like cous cous) with bean cassolet (any variety of beans and or lentils, and tomato sauce)

Any veg in a soup with crusty bread rolls

Rice and peas with meridian pesto (dairy free)

Have a look in the vegetarian recipe selection in the recipe section of MN, I've posted a few recipes there that are dairy, soya and egg free. One is the moroccan tagine (which you can make milder for your DS if you want) and there's also a spinach and muchroom pie that's delicious.

OverMyDeadBody · 28/05/2008 00:02

There'a also a lentil, tomato and rice dish from Egypt I posted in the recipe section, really really filling so your DH might especially like it!

Ratatouille (sp?) with pasta
Scouse/Casserole (or veggie 'blind' scouse)
Jewelled couscous (ie. with loads of veggies)
Stir fry
Stuffed baked peppers
Something with quinoa (good protein source for veggies and DS)
Lentil spag bol
Salads (you can do the obvious leaves, but add peas/sweetcorn/houmous/bacon bits/pasta/rice/couscous/cheese/olives/toasted pitta/croutons/ham/egg/Branston pickle/beansprouts/tomatos/cucumber/pulses/toasted pine nuts/guacomole/etc according to the recipient!)

You're a tough customer

It's tricky that your diet is fairly incompatible with that of your DS. The protein and iron he needs are mainly to be found in meat unfortunately.

RambleOn · 28/05/2008 00:26

Have you been referred to a paedeatric dietician? My DD has an egg allergy and they were very helpful. The most common deficiency in children with egg allergy (indeed all children) is iron.

Iron is found in beneficial quantities in

dried fruit (especially apricots)
Weetabix and Ready Brek (fortified)
Pulses, especially Brown lentils
Red meat
Tinned fish
Green veg (esp spinach)
Baked beans

mad4mybaby · 28/05/2008 20:55

was seeing the dietician regularly but i dont bother going any more as she couldnt help me anymore, he is healthy and thriving so seemed a waste of time going to hosp.

Thanks for some ideas...hard enough to feed a toddler let alone when they are so limited!
