AMumInScotland · 21/05/2008 15:32

Usually mashed potato, veg (broccoli or carrots) and gravy. But sometimes swap oven chips for the mash. Very traditional stodge eaters in my house....

MascaraOHara · 21/05/2008 15:33

mash or chips with veg & gravy

Sunshinemummy · 21/05/2008 15:35

Sometimes spinach, sometimes musy peas. Always with gravy. Sometimes with mash.

bundle · 21/05/2008 17:26

Salad no good with that sort of pie imo.

Mash or roast pots here (roast easier as it all goes in the oven)

bundle · 21/05/2008 17:38

you could just about get away with lots of roasted or steamed veg and mash

or even mash and salad

but salad alone is a bit sad

VictorianSqualor · 21/05/2008 17:40

Mash or baby spuds or chips, with beans or salad, anything really but not just salad, always some kind of potato.

BlueDragonfly · 21/05/2008 17:41

depends..if its form the chip shop then chips and gravy

if i am having a freezer day then chips and mix veg/beans

or mash (sometimes with 'hidden' veg) peas/carrots and gravy

ChopsTheDuck · 21/05/2008 17:41

potatoes - mash, wedges, roasties, parmentier, chips.

cabbage and leek, steamed iun cheesy sauce

pointydog · 21/05/2008 17:55

savoury pie?

POtatoes and brocolli usuaully. Or portatoes and green beans.

pointydog · 21/05/2008 17:57

would not have salad with pie. All the gravy going on it would be yuck.

Melton Mowbray and salad would be ok. A non-gravy pie.

mylittlepudding · 21/05/2008 17:59

Quiche with salad, vegetables with pie

Both my mum and MIL frown upon potatoes being served with pie (too much carbohydrate, shock! horror!) so I am glad others think it is normal to do so.

DeeRiguer · 21/05/2008 18:00

brocolli
green beans
carrots

depends on the pie
pie in the sky now thats always with cream (cheese)!

belgo · 21/05/2008 18:01

vanilla ice cream

Milliways · 21/05/2008 18:03

We sometimes eat out at a "Pie shop", where they serve pies with "Partridge & Pear, Steak & Oyster, Hare & cherry etc as well as more traditional fillings.

The pies are so large (& gorgeous) that although they offer all sorts of side servings, we always just have the coleslaw salad (& DH has a pint of best).

However at home, it's mash, veg & gravy

ecoworrier · 21/05/2008 18:12

Milliways, that pie shop isn't called Sweeney Todd's is it? It sounds just like the place we used to eat at many moons ago. The pies really were lovely, and very big!

Milliways · 21/05/2008 18:56

Yes it is!

DS love the fact that is is next to the Barbers......
