Ok, obviously this is referring to my thread. I have had apple mash before (mash potato with apple - not that weird), and was making sausage and cider casserole. All I had was pear cider so I was wondering whether it was ok to use and whether pear mash would be a suitable accompaniment. I was informed otherwise and didn't make it. Sorry I am such a food philistine for asking.

I think it was being suggested as an accompaniment to a roast pork?
I will concede that as I have never tasted it, it might be ok. however I doubt it.

Can confirm that mashed potato and mashed apple mix is an authentic dish, given me by a German friend, had some folksy name, so Iguess pear and potato might work too.
