Just realised the potatos in my fridge are best before 5th MAY.
Wanted to make a cottage pie, would they still be ok to use?

Are they green or growing a lot? if so I would dump them. Take them out and let them get to room temp, if still firm they will be fine. It is a best before not use by.

I would use them. I never ever look at the bbd of potatoes.

of course they'll be fine, unless they are actually rotting and slimy in your fridge, or have huge stems and roots growing out of them.

It's a best before date, not a use by date.

Hope that helps!

same for all fruit and veg in fact, ignore the use by dates. Use your eyes and nose to check if they are still good to eat.

as long as they look ok. I have pots in my fridge which are often 2 weeks or more over the use by date.

we are still ok!
