Whole leeks

I want to roast these in the oven with some cheese. Will they cook like that in about 25 minutes or do leeks need to be sliced small to cook better?

If I cook whole leeks in the oven whole, I use cheese bechamel sauce rather than just cheese, because that puts some moisture in, which helps them cook without drying out on the outside.

when we do leeks in the oven we slice them up and steam them, then put in a dish with lots of greated cheese and a tub of cream. Season to taste and bake for 20 min.

Big chunks not pre cooked (unless you like them really soft) pop in an oven proof dish, cover with cheese suace and top with breadcrumbs and grated cheese. Bake for 20 mins. Add some steamed cauliflower as well to make it stretch.

You can also put chopped up ham in to make it a meal in its own right
