Milk intake at 14 months

How much milk should a 14 month old be drinking each day please? Have looked in books but some seem to say 600ml whereas others say around 350ml, which is quite a difference. He's still on formula milk as is a bit of a picky eater and I'm not convinced he's getting enough iron via solids at the moment.

I always thought the vauge advice was about a pint, which is 568ml. However as long as they are getting at least 1/2 pt they should be OK, particularly if they eat yoghurt or cheese as well. I am sure you know they can swap to Cows milk by this age, it is far cheaper than formula. Make sure it's full fat though.

My son is 14 months and quite a good eater. I don't tend to measure his milk but limit it to breakfast and bedtime. For breakfast he has about 300ml to drink plus some on readybrek/weetabix and then about another 300ml at bedtime. I asked my health visitor (who is wonderful) a while back and she laughed and said she trys to avoid the question as everyone has their own ideas. I told her what I was giving him and she said fine. Looking at what you've read MaggieW, maybe he's getting a bit too much. He's a very big boy, not particularly fat just big all over and I'm happy to stick with what he's gatting at the moment.

Im the same as Theresa. Daughter loves a very weak and milky cup of tea in the morning, together with cereal and milk, then she has a beakerfull of milk before she goes to bed and she is 14 months. Providing your son is getting enough fruit and vegetables everyday I am sure there will be plenty of iron in his diet.

Temptress - There's no iron in milk. They have milk for calcium.
