Have 12 fairy cakes in the oven, for the dcs (2 &4) to decorate later, for my lovely lovely sister.
I have:

  • one pack dark chocolate
  • all the usual butter/syrup/cream type stuff
  • one pack edible glitter (silver)
  • icing sugar
  • various food colourings, from lurid, to some rather nice paste ones
  • few left over pink based sprinkles

And Waitrose 5 mins walk away

And no vision

Dark choc icing with glitter? 3 different pale icings?

I [heart] edible glitter
Some white, some choc, both with silver glitter.

Ooh, yes, that would work...

I am very keen to use the edible glitter which got forgotten at dd's birthday

Dark choc and glitter - very tasteful and grown-up (and uses the glitter )

Oooo, I'm so jealous! I hope that I'm making cupcakes and decorating them when my DC are 4 and 2 (currently 1.5 and bump ). Will I really have enough energy to bake?

funnypeculiar · 15/05/2008 17:05

Lord, yes, course you will MrsTittlemouse - dd was baking before she could walk - although that may say more about my priorities than anything else 2 years is a lovely gap.

PS Your name always makes me smile - Mrs T was my absolute fav as a kid - I even forced persuaded my dad to make me a box bed

Hurray! Actually, I was thinking about getting a cheats packet cake mix at the supermarket today as a prelude to real baking as DD will say "mixy mixy" and use a spoon to "mix" things in her tea cups. So I think that she will like it. But my pregnancy brain forgot again! Perhaps it's just as well, I don't know if I have the energy for the resulting clean-up.

Oh, cute - she is clearly ready to cook

Just go straight to bog standard fairy cakes - no more hassle than a mix really, & twice as nice. Oh, & get everything weighed & ready whilst she's napping so all you two have to do is mix (it's amazing what a small child can do whilst you just walk to the other side of the kitchen to weigh flour
