16 month old has been weaning well since 6 months and apart from a blip at 12 months due to a tummy bug he's gone from strength to strength.

He will attempt most foods, has likes and dislikes, much preferring savoury food to sweet until a couple of days ago.

He seemed a little off colour, slight temp but otherwise fine apart from going right off his dinners.

He is eating desserts, just, but he's gagging on those today.

I've tried everything, old favourites, new tastes and while he gets excited at the sight of food he gags as soon as it goes in his mouth.

Anyone have any ideas.....please

sounds like he is not well, and doesn't feel like eating.

keep up fluids.

Sore throat? Teeth coming?

Is he drinking enough? As long as he gets enough fluids, I don't think it matters too much about solid food.

How about something soft like yoghurt? Would he gag on that too?

Flower3554 · 15/05/2008 16:54

yoghurt is about the only thing he's still eating, thank goodness.

Apart from the slight temp a couple of days ago he seems fine. Even fluids are a struggle to get into him, his throat, as far as I can see looks ok.

It could be teething I suppose.

Thanks.

Update... Just got the Lo ready for bed and he has a red rash all over his body spreading to his face.

I've done the glass test and they fade BTW so I'm thinking its a viral rash of some sort.

If it is will it need treatment???

Rash looks similar but he doesn't have a cough or cold or runny nose.

Thank you NotA for the link

my dd is 6 and has Slapped cheek syndrome atm.

its doing the rounds. needs no medical help, ie doctor, but symptoms can be helped by calpol.

Looks like heat rash/sunburn , which i thought it was over weekend.

NOt contagious when rash has finally appeared.
