I've suddenly worried myself that I give the kids too much on their plates. Not that they ever eat it all though. I've found loads of info on how much a portion of fruit and veg should be, thanks to the "5 a day" campaign, but not much for carbs or anything else.

How much is a portion of rice / pasta / couscous etc for a 4 year old? What about a baked potato, how big should it be?

How much cheese?

Thanks

I have always been told a portion of meat or carbs is the size of your fist for an adult, so thats what I do with the kids. and a veg/fruit portion is how much you can hold in one cupped hand again this info is for an adult.

HERE YOU GO this looks like what you need.

Its the size of a children's fist I was told at the nutrionist at the hospital which makes more sense to me. Also on "too fat to toddle" problem they said the same.

sorry, I ment that your own portion should be the size of your own fist, your own cupped hand. ie.dp's fist for him, dd's fist for her etc.
