And if you do, what sort did you get?

I don't really want to buy one of the expensive ones that you don't have to freeze the bowl in advance.

Or is it something that will just sit there making me feel guily and inadequate when I don't use it?

moodlum (love the name ), I really like the magimix, it's idiotproof (always good) so long as you remember to stick the bowl back in the freezer, ours lives in there so it's always on tap. Spares are cheap if you lose the spindle too (we haven't as yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time as it's quite small...). Takes about 20-30 mins to churn depending on how firm you like your ice cream - 20 mins makes a soft-textured ice cream that we really like - and it doesn't seem like a faff as of course you can go off and do something else while you're waiting! The recipe book it comes with is good too.

One thing I've discovered - those Tesco 'value' plastic boxes that come in packs of 3 for 97p are perfect for storing the ice cream - the recipe seems to make just the right amount to fill one (not that they stay full too long...)!

Thanks lovecat. I'm getting one. On Amazon they say "doubles as a wine chiller" , which while it is a concept I completely welcome in any appliance, seems a bit odd. I would be silly to get it in chrome for £15 more wouldn't I?

I am moodlum because ds, despite not quite being three, is most definately a hoodlum.
