Bedtime milk

Sorry, am new to all this and I don't think I'm posting in the right section!

My DS is 2+3 months and still has his bedtime and morning milk in a bottle.
He has water and apple juice all day in beakers or straw cups but just will not entertain milk in them.

I've taken him shopping for new milk cups over the past year, he's picked his own and excitedly shown off his "big boy milk cup" to daddy but when it comes to it he won't drink it.

DH says leave him to it, he won't have a bottle for ever etc etc. HV says just keep giving him cups and eventually he'll drink it.

Thing is, I'm a worrier, he's a very picky eater, somedays it's 10 grapes and a bowl of porridge. I take comfort in knowing he has milk everyday so when we've gone 1-2 days with him refusing the cups I give in and give him his bedtime bot.

Can anyone give me any advice??

is two very old to have a bottle? it may not be. if it is i think i agree with HV. how about you dont offer any juice in cup only water or milk. he might indeed just give up in a few days when the bottle doesn't appear.

i know it's hard when you're worried that they are not getting enough nutrition. but it is not that he wont drink the milk it's just that he wont use the cup! and at the moment he knows if he refuses it the bottle will make an appearance.

he obviously feels comforted by the bottle. dd had a dummy for a while and we had a dodgy few days when i decided she was too old for it!

i may be wrong here of course. i breast fed dd till she was 14 months so she only very occasionally had a bottle of expressed milk. and then i moved her straight onto cups. maybe try posting this in the parenting topic.

my dd same,when poorly likes to go back to 'white milky' ie in a bottle as you can see the milk. She will have it in a cup with a straw but takes a lot longer and i start giving it to her in the bath.hoping this is intermediate stage to just cup.much better not to have a bottle as especially at night milk swished all round teeth,so straw not loads better but at least in cup format !!

I think I'm just going to have to stick it out!
At the moment he's using a trainer cup thing but with a teat in, so maybe he'll get used to it and then I can change it to a spout without him noticing!!
I'm going to wait until he's had a good food week though(he's a shocking cold at the moment so is eating very little). If I do that I'm less likely to worry and give in easily!

I've never used bottles for anything other than milk, even when they were being BF both had cups with water in so they got used to it from about 10 weeks. Maybe if I had he wouldn't associate bottles with milk and we could've given them all up at once

My ds 2.5 still takes bottle morning and night, unless there is a real reason for you wanting to move on, why do you want to push him? I found my son goes at his own pace, and I believe he will ditch the bottle when he wants to. It is a comfort to them. I should add, luckily he does not suck on a dummy!

Ahhh we have a "danny" too, he was terrible with it until about 2 weeks ago but have now managed get it down to sleep times and occasionally in the car.
I don't know why I'm pushing him, partly the dentist and HV (although his speech is excellent so it's doing no harm there)

dd (2.1) has JUST switched to big cups this weekend.

We did the 'choose your own cup' thing too, and then just put the bottle teats in the bin so we couldn't go back! She kicked up a bit the first night, but since then has been fine. She is drinking less milk though.

I wanted to change purely because my understanding is that milk drunk from bottles swills round teeth more so causes more decay (does your lo brush his teeth after his bedtime milk?)
