My son is 2 1/2 years old, and was weaned on mostly jars. I had a lot of trouble getting him to eat lumpy food as he would gag, or refuse to eat it, so I ended up giving him what I know he would eat. He is better now but still not completely off jars. He eats weetabix, toast, pasta, breadsticks etc, but will not eat anything that would be on a childrens menu when we go out. He will not even try fishfingers, chips, sausages, pizza, beans etc. What should I do? I have tried giving him these foods - leaving it in front of him for 20 mins then taking it away. He wont even try it! I then usually end up giving him something else like a yoghurt just so that he has had something which I know is probably wrong, but he is already small for his age & im trying to get him to catch up. Should I abondon jars & be tough?

Is he still on jars at 2 1/2?
Seems too old IMO.
What do i know though...my ds (nearly 3) will only eat sausages,meatballs,carrots,chips,yorkshire puddings,corned beef sandwiches,cheese spread sanwiches,most cereals,custard,and any fruit-in copious amounts!!
I offer what we are having for tea then if he refuses to try it (most nights) he goes without. No alternative, thats it.
Seems harsh but like your son he wont even put it in his mouth.AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!
So i totally feels for you.
So frustrating isn't it.
