Make it

  1. lasagne, sauce, cheese sauce, lasagne, sauce, cheese sauce, lasagne, cheese sauce +cheese
  2. Lasagne, sauce, lasagne, sauce, lasagne cheese sauce+cheese
or
  1. As above 1, or 2, plus an additional layer of sauce before final cheese sauce and cheese?

I usually do 1. And it tastes great, but wondered if it might taste better another way?

Oh and one more thing.
The instructions on fresh pasta say cook in boiling water for 5 mins, then ready to use.

Does this mean I have to cook it before making the lasagne up? I mean do I have to?
It might just be easier to use dried pasta if this is the case. (which I usually use)

meat sauce
cheese sauce
then pasta
repeat x3 with cheese sauce on top of final pasta layer

I don't think you need to cook fresh pasta before.
My mum puts a layer of raw spinach leaves on top of the mince which is nice.

Mine is lazy by comparison. All the bolognese goes at the bottom, then 2 or 3 layers of dried pasta and cheese sauce. Grind of pepper on the top.

popsycal · 03/05/2008 16:46

Hatrick, what veg do you put in it ??

Astrophe · 03/05/2008 16:49

I do the same as humphreycushion, although sometimes the middle layer of white sauce get smissed out because I haven't made enough (I'm very hit and miss with whiet sauce amounts - anyone got a recipe? I know how to make it, but usually have not enough, or vats full...)

Pavlovthecat · 03/05/2008 16:52

Do you wait for sauces to cool down before making them up or use them hot?

So, if I dont cook fresh pasta first, how long in the oven?

I have used spinach on mine too. I do meat for DH and veggie for me. I only cook it with guests as its so time consuming to do 2.

I also mix an egg into the final sauce to go over the top, it sort of souffle's it, which is a bit different and means it does not burn so easily on top.

I might try Humpphrey's one with additional layer of cheese sauce. Be a bit different.

Always finish with cheese sauce, grated nutmeg, and little knobs of butter.

mumonthenet · 03/05/2008 17:16

I did one last week which started and ended with cheese sauce. Was delicious and kids preferred it cos they don't like it too meaty.

shelleylou · 03/05/2008 17:19

sorry ment hatrick. Didnt have my glasses on

Pavlovthecat · 03/05/2008 19:13

Can you beleive my H (not D, note that), took the computer away from me, said I would make a better lasagne if I was not distracted and would not let me go back on it!

Then, THEN had the cheek to 'go tidy the front room' and put the football on the television, whilst tidying .
Cheeky man! I turned it off in a huff, of course!

I did it the usual way, and put spinach between the bolognaisey sauce and the cheese sauce in the vegetarian one. Also used lots of basil, butmeg on top and did the egg mixing with the sauce on top. looks good, not eaten yet.

How rude, your a woman yu can multi task
He would do a far better job without the distraction of football
How did your lasagne turn out? Hope you all enjoyed it

TinkerbellesMum · 03/05/2008 22:33

Meat, Cheese Sauce, Lasagne Sheet - repeat as necessary, replace final Lasagne Sheet with Cheese. Sometimes I put cheese on top of each level of Cheese Sauce if I can be bothered to prepare that much cheese!

Pavlovthecat · 04/05/2008 17:39
