Here it is - all welcome, long termers and newbies, I imagine this week is leftovers leftovers leftovers and kicking off from Thursday onwards.

ive gone back to Oddbox and our deliveries now come on Friday nights so I’m going to try to force my brain to meal plan Thursday-Thursday and have delivery on Thursdays to make it happen. Won’t happen this week but hopefully from next

Some lovely sounding meals this week!

Pork curry wit hnoodles in the slow cooker (when I'm in the office)
Tuna pasta salad
Jacket potatoes with creamy cannelini beans
Halloumi and chargrilled greens with hot honey on flatbreads
Aubergine, chorizo, tomato and chilli pasta
Pork mince stir fry with rice

There might be a few changes as it's half term and things can be a bit up in the air and I still don't know if DS wants to go out for his birthday/get a takeaway/pretend he doesn't know us at all. I'll probably add some chicken to the shopping list fo rhis favourite chinese chicken stir fry in case he decides to go that route!

UnimaginableWindBird · 24/05/2025 17:32

Sunday: roast pork with fennel
Monday: tofu stir-fry

Ooh, I love fennel, especially with roast pork.

This week we are having

Tonight - Tapas: shop bought tortilla, olives, broad beans with Serrano ham, Felicity Cloake's perfect patatas bravas (but with garlic mayo instead of aioli), chorizo with mushrooms

Tomorrow - Delia's roast Mediterranean vegetable salad, with couscous (but will do with bulgur instead)

Monday - bhaji burgers (kohl rabi and carrot)/lamb burgers

Tuesday - I'm out, rest of the family will have tuna pasta bake

Wednesday - Roast vegetable and cashew jalfrezi, Meera Sodha's workers curry

Thursday - out for our anniversary, kids will have takeaway or something

Friday - spicy bacon and beans

DiggoryVenn · 25/05/2025 17:21

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/05/2025 18:13

Going away for a few days, one of which will involve a Southern Indian restaurant (my favourite) and the other of which will hopefully be a nice pub lunch or tea.

Then easy stuff for the rest of the week - veggie hotdogs looking a possibility, if I can decide on a side that interests me (bored of corn on the cob).

Citygirlrurallife · 27/05/2025 09:47

I'm working this week away during the days and not back until 8pm so have pre-planned for the others, most of the next month will be pretty boring to make it easy on teens cooking for us

Last night though we had a dinner party and I did all recipes from Georgina Hayden's Nistisima:

  • charred watermelon with pistachio pesto
  • roast sumac cauliflower with tahini lemon dressing
  • braised green beans in tomatoes and kalamata olives
  • kidney beans with walnuts and coriander
  • green tabbouleh
  • smoked harissa lamb
  • rose water rice pudding with roast strawberries

tonight: african peanut stew
tomorrow: spaghetti bolognese
thursday: roast chicken legs for the meat eaters, fishcakes for the pescatarian and tempeh for me!
friday: going to some outdoor theatre so twill be a picnic

not sure about the weekend, we have friends staying so nice excuse to plan something nice, will do a big brunch Sunday am probably tofu scramble, roast tomatoes, get DH to make bread, field mushrooms and sausages for meat eaters

Good Lord, that dinner party menu sounds amazing! Very jealous. My chicken stroganoff this evening was quite pleasant, but feels very dull indeed after reading this menu.

Citygirlrurallife · 28/05/2025 10:00

haha don't worry - the rest of the week is boring as shit, it was nice to have the time and headspace to make a big effort for a change

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Cole slaw?

Thanks. I like coleslaw and I like hotdogs, but not together, for some reason.

HalloumiFries · 30/05/2025 09:21

Tomorrow: Gnocchi and roast veg gratin
Sunday: Roast ham, jersey royals, broccoli cheese and peas
Monday: Ham, eggs and chips
Tuesday: Chorizo broccoli pasta
Wednesday: Cheese and onion quiche, jersey royals and salad
Thursday: Stuffed peppers and salad.
Friday: Lamb saag

SpaceOP · 30/05/2025 19:15

As expected, due to birthday celebrations things didn't quite go to plan. So some of the things from last week need to make an appearance this week.

Pork curry and noodles
Tuna pasta salad
I think there was a plan for jacket potatoes with beans that I hope is doable still.
Gnocchi with pesto, greens and burrata

I'm also toying with defrosting the lamb taking up space in my freezer. No one wants a full roast dinner so maybe cook it and serve on flatbreads with salads? Shwarma style? Then freeze the rest for a lamb curry another time? Or come up with a second meal for this week.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 30/05/2025 19:57

Thurs - veggie sausage casserole or veggie hotdogs if I can decide what to have with hot dogs

Forgottenmyphone · 31/05/2025 05:40

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupieits not super authentic at all but roasted beetroot, pickled red cabbage, enough sauerkraut to sink a ship and cheese on a really good rye

That sounds great. Is there a particular brand of sauerkraut you'd recommend? I've never bought it.

I did slow roasted lamb with flatbreads and salads a couple of weeks ago and I was very pleased with how it turned out. I followed a Jamie Oliver recipe for the lamb and served it scattered with pomegranate seeds and then hummus, tzatziki, and a big Greek salad alongside. I often use leftover lamb for shepherd’s pie but there wasn’t enough left last time.

UnimaginableWindBird · 31/05/2025 16:41
