Where can I get silken tofu?

My 6 and a half month old is going to be a vegetarian. I've found lots of nice recipes using silken tofu but don't know where to buy it. Tesco only has the block stuff. Am I right in thinking that silken tofu is liquid? Where can I get hold of some?

You can get it from www.goodnessdirect.co.uk

It's not liquid, it's sort of blobby.

holland and barrett sell it

and WMMC is right - it is blobby

weird texture but nice

Actually the block stuff ends up the same once you cook it - so if Tesco is more convenient I'd use that if I were you.

Silken tofu is very soft to the bite, wobbly -ish and less resilient to what you do with it. If youare going to be blending it for, say, a quiche, then use regular (in fact it would work better) but for desserts ect you can get it in the non-fridge isles. Have you looked there? If they don't have it then sainsburys tend to. And holland and barret of course!

sainsburys, Holland&Barrett, tesco because it is non refrigerated it is in food aisle eg noodles etc it isnt liquid it is quite um wet slippy .silken refers to the manufacturing process

fwiw my baby had a massive allergic reaction to Tofu characterised by swelling, rash, pyrexical.

Our Sainsbury does both the block tofu and the silken variety.

I think they do it in fresh and wild if you've got one nearby.
