will this soup recipe work without milk?

butter bean leek and bacon soup

should i just leave it out or subsitute it for something else?

we do soups like this without milk or use Goats milk / water to substitute [or both goat milk and water] as we have 3 dairy-free DC. We swap the butter etc for marg too, with no adverse effects! You can make soups out of pretty well anything, so i do a lot - this one sounds v. nice!!
it's not clear to me from the recipe/method bit where the milk gets put in
