i know you're meant to do it overnight but say you put them in to soak in the morning how many hours later would they be ready?

they've been in 6 hours now, i think that should do it. does it matter that after about 4 hours i discovered that only half of them were covered in water cos it had been soaked up by the beans. i recovered in water and they remained covered for the next 2 hours.

I'd usually give them 8-12 hours (overnight), but there is a meathod where you soak for a few hours then just boil for a bit longer. Probably will take 1-2 hours simmering to be soft. HTH.

I think I've cooked them after 6-7 hours. Boil some water & pour over them to speed things up too.
