How to microwave popcorn?

I saw a reference somewhere to just adding spices to popcorn when microwaving ... woah ... so I can just take some popcorn kernels and, what sort of container? Open? Closed?

apparently you do it in a paper bag

I think is just the face I would be making in front of the microwave, waiting for my house to burn down.

Actually is also the face I made when I found there is a panelly bit in my microwave made out of cardboard.

Woah, in a stapled paper bag?

It works great, I've tried it. I love popcorn and the ready to go stuff was costing me a fortune.

Fold the top of the bag at least twice and don't use too many staples or you will get sparks.

I normally do it in a pan on the oven, but a) more washing up b) sometimes it works, sometimes I fail, and once I fail, I seem to keep failing for a while.

No washing up the paper bag way, especially if you are as lazy as me and eat it straight from the bag too

NotQuiteCockney · 01/05/2008 11:43

Surely if it's been popped in a bag, it's meant to be eaten in the bag. Surely you're not suggesting there's another option.

I do it in a pyrex bowl with lid in the microwave for a couple of minutes - adds to the fun, as you can watch it pop. The instructions were on the bag of popping corn.
