Can I just slice them and put them in the freezer or do I have to saute them??

I wouldn't freeze them at all, surely they end up too soggy?

DH says you can slice them and put them in the freezer raw.

But he wants to know why you would freeze them and not eat them!

I have loads and they will go off if I don't use them. I'm trying to cut down on the amount of food I throw away!!

Make a soup! Tis my favourite, mushroom soup.

Or for lunch chop them up, put on toast under the grill with chopped garlic, black pepper, cheese and lashings of olive oil.

The whole point of mushrooms is their taste, and when they are frozen it disappears so they become squashy tasteless lumps.

Good suggestions guys but I'm going to be away for a few days and they really will just get chucked away. I'd rather freeze them and be able to bung them in a casserole at a later date.

I'll give it a go and see what happens. Nothing to lose.
