DD came home from school last week saying she had had gammon for lunch and it was really nice. I've been to the buthers today a bought a gammon steak but have no idea what to give her with it....I know the traditional thing would be chips and egg or pinapple but I that doesn't do much for me. Any alternative suggestions? Some kind of potato...easy and quick??

another vote for parsley sauce and mash. Soooo yummy, and I normally hate parsley!

Cheese sauce is always a winner for me with new pots.

baked potato with grated cheese, coleslaw and sweetcorn/corn on the cob. We have the pineapple too which gets lightly grilled just before the gammon is ready.

Did a quick version of Potato dauphanoise. It was very popular! Will try some of your other suggestions next time.

Have you tried Ainsley Harriott's meal in minutes book? There is a great recipe called chill-jam gammon. You can still have it without the chill if you wanted! It comes with sweetcorn fritters which are really tasty (a little bland without the sauce) We have served it up for our friends for a dinner party, it only takes about 20 mins to do and you can freeze any left over sauce for another time. I'm sure that your DD would like it.
