Garlic buttered rice - help

I love this and always have it in our favourite Thai restaurant but haven't made it before & was going to try tonight.

All the recipes I can find are made in pans, frying off garlic & maybe onions etc first before adding rice, but I always do my rice in the rice cooker 'cos it's easier & I always get really nice rice.

If I were to gently fry some minced garlic in butter & pour in near the end of the cooking time, do you think it would work?

TIA

can't imagine why it wouldn't - the idea is to coat the rice in the flavoured oil/butter. Give it a bash and see what happens

did it before I saw your reply CM it was lovely, accompanied mango chicken yum.
