I think its Lidl where I get bread flour for about 47p a bag ( I tend to call in at Aldi/Lidl/Netto if passing so not sure which I get what from!) great for the bread machine.

And am just having some of their smoked cheese for lunch

I also like the mozzarella and feta, less then half the price of Sainsbury/Tesco type supermarkets.

DP LOVES Lidl luxury muesli. Its £1.49 500g and is stuffed with nuts and fruit and jumbo flakes. We 'dilute' it with extra oats and its still the most nutty/fruity muesli we have found. Bit high in sugar though.

I don't think that you can suggest missing it and going to Waitrose! The prices are very different and well worth going. I go to Waitrose because I go to Lidl.
Bread flour is cheap and good. Also good for olive oil, cheese, bin bags, kitchen rolls, toilet rolls, bottled water, chocolate and ice cream. Super at Christmas with stollen and gingerbread. You can get good bargains-e.g. childrens ski clothes one week only. Just before Christmas I got a box of assorted candles, all white including 2 big church ones, for only £3.99. I had an excellent chopping board one week. Fruit and veg can be good-it varies week to week-I have had pineapples for 59p.

Does shopping have to be 'an experience'?
I just go for food and if its cheap because they don't pay wages for extra staff hanging around then thats fine by me.
A bit longer to queue at a till to save a fortune on shopping, also fine.
Wierd Gourmet things? No idea what you are talking about.

well i love those tuna tins, so does dd. regularly has the mexican one on toast for lunch. she wolfs it down. also love lidl for cakes and biscuits. dd chomps through a tub of their blueberries as we mooch round.

wouldn't do a 'big' shop there though, too hit and miss i find. we use ocado every couple of months, and top up with goodies from m&s staff shop, food at 1/4 price.

White asparagus from Holland is in at ours this week. Have gorged.

Lidl's whole Black Forest ham (not the pre-sliced) is yummy and looks impressive on a deli board.

The bag of seeded rolls (some sunflower, some poppy, some mixed) freezes well and, warmed in the oven, they are splendid.

Their tomato ketchup is great: tomatoes, sugar, vinegar, spices. That's it. No added crap.

I could go on... and on...

The tomato ketchup in the glass bottle, mind, not the sqeezy one. And not the organic one thou, sadly; that has guar gum in it.
