Chocolate cake - What icing shall I make?

I fancy a choc fest so DD1 and I have just baked a chocolate cake, it's in the oven as I type.
I want to do a chocolate icing but not being a baking person don't really know what I'm doing. Do I use butter or icing sugar ? Does it have to be proper butter or will 'I can't believe it's not butter' do ?

butter chocolate icing for complete indulgence

can't believe etc will be fine as its not needing baked just mixed and eaten outofbowl with cake

OK, is butter icing simple then ? I'm pressuming butter, cocoa and water ?

Butter, icing sugar (key ingredient that) cocoa, tiny tiny bit of milk to slacken it off if necessary. Just doing some now. Yum.

Sorry - thats for the middle bit with a bit of jam spread over one of the halves, and then choc icing on the top is just cocoa icing sugar and water. but not very much water.

Don't have scales so roughly how much butter should I be using ?

half the amount of butter to icing sugar and couple of tablespoons of cocoa...might have to do some baking now

Caramel Icing

1 1/2 cups (225g) icing sugar

1 tablespoon milk

2 tablespoons golden syrup

30g butter, softened

YUM and no scales required
