hi guys, 39 weeks pregnant... just made a vegetarian pie which is delicious and the recipe has some goats cheese in it. I ordered some from the ocado man and online it told me it was pasteurised...then I just looked at the packaging and saw it was not.
Just went online and saw that unpastuerised cheese if thoroughly heated is actually okay. It was piping hot.
please any thoughts?

fine if hot

TotalChaos · 15/04/2008 20:59

since you thoroughly cooked it, am sure it is fine.

if hot throughout it will be fine. Listeria is very heat-susceptible.

I thought that the risky time was at the beginning of the pregnancy not the end.

Seems to me it is a minimal risk and I wouldn't worry about it.

I am sure many expectant mums have done far worse, I know I did

Listeria infection is in fact risky throughout the pg, but rare, even if you do eat non-cooked goat's cheese (though obv it is better to be on the safe side).
